WRITING YOUR OWN SONGS

By: Stan Cullimore

Relax and read on.

Without wishing to get too flowery or sentimental, I have to admit that one of the reasons for every musician to have a go at writing songs at least once, is this:

It's damn good fun!
The thrill of putting pen to paper, and words to music, is hard to describe but well worth experiencing for yourself! The other good thing about writing songs is that if you are any good at it, not only do you get very well paid (sometimes), and very famous (occasionally), but also, people actually seem to look up at you, and believe that you are touched with the gift of greatness. (Although do bear in mind that there's a good chance that what people are really thinking when they look up at you is, "What a crap song, I wonder who wrote it?)
Anyway, should you decide you are going to try and write your own songs, the next thing you have to do is to work out how it is done.

In the next article I will explain to necessary steps you need to take to start writing your own songs.

About the Author: Stan Cullimore -- was the guitarist and CO-songwriter for a band called The Housemartins. This group was around in the mid-eighties, had numerous hits around the world (including at least one No. 1), and released several albums (which sold lots and lots of copies).
