INSTRUMENTATION & VOCALS:
Track 1, 2, and 3:
Problem 1:
Artist is very talented and has more than he offered on the demos, but for reasons listed in this review, he is not utilizing his full potential.
His musical talent is confirmed through the ideas behind the songs and his appealing lyrics, but he failed to take advantage of it.
Composer has a nice beat, but it's subdued by the low volume and sound quality.
The instrumentation and the vocals are not complimenting each other. They sound as if the artist is not very sure of himself.
Artist has the talent, so why not concentrate on building self-confidence.
A vocal line or chorus for an accompanying female singer and/or group of other voices could strengthen the vocal appeal, but such is missing.
Weak intros
Action 1:
You have the talent, so build the confidence and remember to sound very serious, because it shows you are committed to your lyrics. No one else will commit if you don't.
Use standard studios or recording equipments to boost the recording and sound quality. Amateur home studios or recording equipments should not be allowed to compromise the actual value of a song. It is better to invest in one song and have it well produced than presenting many incomplete songs.
Make it a point to test your final production on mono sound system or very low quality sound systems and when it sounds good and clear, it will pass a good sound system's test. When you test your music on very good sound systems, you may be deceived by the result because almost every good sound system has an in-built sound correcting filters and effects.
Employ the service of a vocal coach or listen ATTENTIVELY to how successful rappers articulate.
Expected Results:
A professional recording studio will enhance the sound quality and create a stronger surround effect.
A professional producer will fix the flaws in the song and give it a stronger direction.
When you articulate correctly, it will add more flavors to the songs.
Problem 2: Vocals too soft and too relax for a rap song.
Action 2:
Rap vocals are very effective when they sound aggressive and rhythmical, so keep the focus. Avoid relaxing too much on the vocals, when the song is a rap song.
Keep it fluent and faster or else it will sound like reading a book.
Problem 3: Weak musical arrangement.
Action 3:
To correct this problem, keep the beat and the vocals very rhythmical and add volume.
The instrumentation and the vocals must compliment each other.
Add more power to the vocal. When the lyrics are critical, assume you are quarreling with someone and express aggression in your voice.
