MAKING A HIT SONG
RULE NUMBER 1: Do not lead the song, let the song lead you. The song that comes to you is already composed and has a direction. DO NOT CHANGE ITS NATURAL COURSE!
RULE NUMBER 2: Train your ears and hearing. In your quietest and most relaxed moments, playback your song (Only once) and listen to which direction the song is going or wants to go, and quickly record it before you loose it. To repeat this process, first allow yourself at least 2 weeks without playing or listening to that particular song, and then go back to it. Always do that ONLY when you are alone. If you are not lazier than me practice listening to your songs at the moment stated in this section, and you will not only improve the quality of your songs, but also you will develop a trained ear, which is key to writing a hit song.
